ABOUT OUTER MELBOURNE COUNCILS
Outer Melbourne Councils is a group made up of 10 municipalities that form a ring around metropolitan Melbourne, formed to advocate for better services and infrastructure for our 1.6 million residents.
We have the vision that residents should have access to jobs, services and infrastructure no matter where they live. This is what unites us in our collective approach to improving outcomes for one quarter of the state’s population. This means making sure that our residents can get on with living their lives the way they want to live them.
We remain a region of unrivalled potential, with the capacity to ensure the greater Melbourne metropolitan region functions as a whole – with services and infrastructure that ensures all Melburnians are able to live full lives in a cohesive and integrated community.

Whichever way you look at a map, our municipalities are all a long way from the Melbourne CBD – in mind, if not in absolute distance. That’s a challenge we all share. And that’s what brings all ten of our councils together.
